For Mixed Chorus (SATB), Piano, Amplified Harpsichord and Electronic Sounds
James Walker's three part "The Electronic Alice", for Mixed Chorus, Piano, Amplified Harpsichord and Electronic sounds based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" was written over a span of four years and supported by commissions from the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) and the State University of New York Research Foundation.
The electronic sounds were realized and manipulated at the Aspen Music Festival's Electronic Music Studio, with the aid and assistance of Michael C. Czajkowski, Director of the Electronic Studio.
At Aspen, the electronic sounds were created on a Buchla Box music synthesizer, transferred to reel-to-reel tape recorders and physically manipulated and spliced. The sonorities created predate digital creation of such electronic sounds by several decades.
